Me, myself and the Christmas lights

Eu importo-me?

Let's change the subject - Volume 2 Ep1 - HUGO

How does it feel to go to the cinema and experience wonderful words, magical characters, a rollercoaster of all kind of emotions?

That is what the movie Hugo is all about that, the true essence of the cinema.
Way before the special effects, gadgets and technologies a film was something magical; like “seeing your dreams during the day,” and it is that essence that Martin Scorsese brings us with Hugo.

Revealing the story of this movie is pretty much like knowing what you going to get before Christmas; the excitement, isn’t the same, not is the reaction when you finally open it. Don’t get me wrong, Hugo is not a movie of twists and turns, plots and under plots, it is simple, what you see is what you get, but you have to look at it closely.

The past, the present and the future are tied together, by different actors from different generations showing us the essence of the films. It would be easy to talk about Christopher Lee or Sir Ben Kingsley, but I think I owe to Asa Butterfield, to mention his name. This young actor has being showing bits of his talent here and there, as Modred in BBC Merlin, or as Bruno the young boy in The boy in the stripped pyjamas, and I dare to say we are going to hear a lot more from this young actor.

As many I am a fan of cinema, but today I came to you humble acknowledging that I know nothing about cinema. Sure I know the Lumière brothers, but after that and before “Gone with the wind.” I literally know nothing. Back then when the movies were silent, black and white and were colour frame by frame. “We had fun back then” I bet they did. And so seeing Hugo is going back to the simple to magical, not only by the way the movie is told, but also by the presence of great actors, that lend their talent to make this a hommage  au cinéma.

Me vs First Day of Work

As you probably are aware I don’t write about myself. The (fictional) characters I write about are not real and any resemblance with reality may be pure coincidence.

First day of work is always a pain. For starters you always go way to much fancy and formal for what is required on your job, it don’t really care if it’s a formal or casual dress code, you always go a little bit too much.
Don’t matter what you’re supposed to do, in that first day (or week) you follow people around and do whatever you’re told to, and smile a lot, although in my case that happens always (the smiling not the working).
The “best part” is that you always wake up early to arrive on time and set up a record of punctuality, that you know you’ll end up breaking it after two or three weeks (who knows, maybe earlier), of course none of your superiors (or the people you work with) arrived at the schedule time, unless in that one day your alarm clock don’t wake you, or the bathroom is flooded or you miss your bus. In that one day be sure everyone will be asking or needing you.
First week is also when you do a lot of screw-ups, don’t try to avoid, it will happen sooner or later, and you’ll be messing up with a thousand of Euros in equipment long before you realize.
That, of course, never happened to me, although I know a friend of mine…

The thing is starting a new job is not always easy and you problem have the same problems every time, so just keep it calm and smile, because everyone else is.

Me vs my inner child

Happy Children's Day!!!

Do you remember when you were kids and play making believe? Or when you played with your dolls (or cars) or both on my case. yeah good times...

Children's Day is celebrated on various days in many places around the world, in particular to honor children. On the 1st of June and 20th of November (the day when the Declaration of the Rights of the Children was approved).

Remember all the pranks, games you did when you were a child?
And playing make believe?
On my time i was a sailor moon and a ninja turtle (i really kicked-ass).
And the friendships, the crushes?
It was that time when you really just want to goof around all day... awww

So enjoy today's day, go out with your children/nephews/cousins, or just go out and let the child inside you come out.
Go to the movies watch a kids movie.
Eat a big Sundae
And if you really have to stay home or working. take a break and go watch a puppets show
Starship - the little mermaid alien version with puppets =) made by an awsome theatre company Team Starkid
who still play making believe and lead us to an incredible journey through love, fantasy and insects :)

So enjoy this day and then let me know what did you do =)

Let's change the subject Volume 1 Issue 3

About Primeval…

I have shared my thoughts on some of the shows I watch regularly, and I’ll try to continuing to do that on other shows that are finishing and starting. But for now I think I should share and let the world know (or my 2/3 followers) about Primeval.

Primeval is a UK sci-fi show, about a team of scientists and experts in different areas that are faced with raptures on time and space – anomalies – that allow them to travel to another times, but mainly bring to our time creatures from different eras.

On it's 5th season, this show is a success among the viewers because of his great dynamic and intensity which allowed it to survive changes on the show (with the death and appearance of new characters) and the one year gap, on which the show was rated as canceled, and then pick-up again.
As most of UK tv-shows, Primeval has only 7 episodes per season, giving the show more depth and make it run very fast, which translates on more adrenaline for the viewers. As for the characters we can definitely see their growth along the seasons, especially on Connor (Andrew Lee Potts, Passionate Woman, Alice), Hannah Spearrit (S club 7) and Ben Mansfield.

Personally I’m a fan of UK series, Primeval, Merlin, Sherlock, among others are a must see if you like good television. And I have to admit that Primeval is definitely one of my favorites’ tv-shows, even when compared with US shows.

There are lots of factors that make a show great, but I think in the end it is all about your emphaty with the characters and the characters relation between them.

As for the story itself, Primeval showed a great development throughout seasons, if you are a sci-fi fan, you should really watch it. Because presents some good questions and doubts about the possibility to know and see how it was on the pass, and how would you deal with that amount of knowledge you could access with that.

Primeval created by Tim Haines and Adrian Hodges stars Andrew Lee Potts, Hannah Spearritt, Ben Miller and Ben Mansfield, among others.

Season 5 is airing on Watch, and I’ll be making some episodes reviews throughout this season.

Let's change the subject volume 1 issue 2 part 1

About new shows, old shows, cancelations, season finales and much more

This will probably be a long post, as you can see by the title it's a lot of stuff.

I'll have to start by saying that Chuck will have a Season 5 (YEY)! I'm very glad, especially after the season finale

*and from this moment the spoiler alert is on ;)

So after a lot of drama and Chuck really beeing a badass (you don't mess with his family!) we realize that Chuck is indeed a spy with or without the intersect, and that is much more self confident then in the first seasons. A lot of growing and evolutin to Chuck, but also to Sarah that give the most beautifull vows and it's not afraid to show her feelings. (you go girl). We also get the happy ending and learn that an unployed team Bartwoski is now going private, as they I'll start defeating bad guys as private spys. How cool is that?
Great right? And if it wasn't enough this little fun twist in the end, Morgan learns Kung-Fu, aka he downloads the intersect to his brain. Really Morgan a kickass spy? That will be so awsome :)
And of course he probably will keep a secret from Alex (and we start this all thing all over again...)

But talking about surprising endings, what was that in HIMYM?

Ok, I'll be honest I was pretty sure that the wedding from first episode will be of barney or robin, tho I was actually betting on barney&robin's wedding. Anyone with me?
Anyhow learning that in fact Barney was going to get married was a surprise, to be honest the surprise was that they give that away already. But of course they had to twist a lit bit too. Is it Nora or Robin the girl with whom he will get married?

Leave your bets =)
Anyway Season 7 will probably be the last of himym. Yeah it's a great show, but the can't delay more the "meeting mother" thing, and also with Lily and Marshall getting a kid, next season will be probably focus on their struggles as future parents and Nora/Barney/Robin thing that will eventually end on the altar. So the only question is what is in store for Ted next season?
Whatever it is, I'm pretty sure that the fans will be giving much more attention to the other characters.

*spoiler alert off

If you have any show you would like me to talk about just say it (I can try if I know it)

About new series and cancelations...

Do you know CHAOS?

Chaos is about a rogue CIA spies in the division of Clandestine Homeland Administration and Oversight Services that investigated threats to national security, while try to keep their jobs from being eliminated due to budget cuts. New agent Rick Martinez joins the team as an in-housemolefor CIA Director H.J. Higgins. However, Martinez is quickly found out by the team, who "turn" him for their own use

So what do you think?
I can say it's funny and interesting. Not an addictive show but a quite nice to see. So if you have a chance to watch the 3 episodes aired I'd recomend you would, and if after that you want to see more...
well you'll have to wait indefinitely cause the show has call off, not cancel just put on a hiatus.
It is a shame, because there was pottencial in that show. Freddy Rodriguez, James Murray, Eric Close and Tim Blake Nelson look like an actually disfunctional but very funny team.
CHAOS ratting - Must see

Also there was another show that premier this year and caught my attention, called Camelot.
What do you think?
I actually can't say much about it, because I only saw the 1st episode, but it just didn't get my attention. Anyhow the casting for Merlin and Morgana seem pretty great. Joseph Fiennes is a scary/vicious/manipulative Merlin and Eva Green a badass/vindictive/manipulative Morgana.
The other cast look good too, but as I said I didn't watch more than the first episode.
I can't tell for sure the reason I didn't get into that show, but maybe because the only reason I saw it on the first place was because I'm a fan of Eva Green.
But if you think I should watch more of it feel free to try and convince me.

...

Just realize how much I wrote, and how much I still have to say. especially because talking of camelot, remind me of Merlin the series from BBC, do you know it?

I'll definitely make  a post about shows from the UK. if you are not familiar with english shows you will want to get to know them. I can assure you that they know a thing or two about good shows too.

So that's all for now, on my opinions on the tv-show world. Feel free to say about your favourite shows.
